Talbert

I grew up in Mobile and spent my weekends and summers at the Fairhope Yacht Club. I attended the University of Alabama and studied Business Administration. I entered the Coast Guard in 1978 and retired in 2000. My family has had the chance to live in Miami, New Orleans, Cape Cod and Cape Elizabeth, ME. In 2021 we moved back to Baldwin County where I began a career in real estate with my father who was a developer and builder. My family has been involved in several churches since moving back. We went to Church of the Apostle in Daphne where I served on the vestry and building committee and then we started attending St. Paul’s in Foley where my brother was the Rector. Here I served on the vestry as both Jr and Sr warden after my brother retired and during COVID. In 2021 we decided it was time to move to a closer church and started attending St James. As a family we have found a new church home here. The girls have gotten involved with the EYC and serve as Acolytes. Susannah enjoys the quilting group and helping in the kitchen. I help with the EYC when needed and enjoy the Tuesday morning men’s breakfast. In my spare time I enjoy reading and being outdoors with the family.

Born in Alabama, I have been blessed to live in beautiful Fairhope all my adult life. I attended University of South Alabama and University of Mobile, earning my degree in Business Administration in 1992, minoring in Marketing Design and Religious Studies. I have worked for Imperial Dade, a distributor of paper, packaging and janitorial supplies, since 2010, as a consultant and national sales account manager.

I married my husband Robert, in 2000, and we have one son, Sam, who is 20 and in college studying sound engineering. Our family found St James Episcopal in December of 2015 and felt right at home immediately. We were blessed to have my dad, Dan Powell, follow us here soon after. We have all enjoyed being a part of the St James family and serving in various capacities over these 9 years, and look forward to new opportunities in the years to come. I currently serve on the Altar Guild, as a Lector and Chalice Bearer, and as a member of the St James Episcopal School board. I truly feel blessed and humbled to be able to serve our Lord and our parish in these capacities. My other loves are our two dogs and way too many plants. My passions are all varieties of art and live music, “practicing” interior design, and spending time with family and great friends!
