“Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Luke 6:21
The St. James Bereavement Ministry provides caring consolation and spiritual support to parish families who are grieving the death of a loved one. The Ministry also offers assistance with funeral services and receptions held in Green Hall. |
These are fellowship groups that meet together once a month to share in a meal. They also provide support for fellow members in times of crisis and change and close friendships for sharing of life’s joys, offering a comfortable atmosphere for newcomers.

This ministry includes those who contact newcomers and Sunday morning visitors. They are also responsible for at least one Newcomer’s function during the year.

New Mom Meal MinistryThis group provides meals to new mothers in the parish community. As the need arises, volunteers sign up using an online sign up website.
Clergy Hospital MinistryOur clergy makes daily pastoral visits to area hospitals. Please advise the clergy or office if you or someone in your family is admitted to an area hospital. The hospitals will not release names of patients without confidentiality forms being completed by the patient so often the church does not know when our parishioners are in the hospital.

The St. James Prayer Chain allows many people to pray at one time for a special need or an emergency. There are two active prayer chains, a daytime chain and an evening / weekend.
Leader: Gilda Nester 928-9600. Prayer Quilt Ministry“Prayers & Squares” is a prayer ministry that combines the gifts of a hand tied quilt with the gift of prayer for someone in need. Each knot tied into the quilt represents a specific prayer for the person who receives the quilt. How does it work? Each member of the team has role to play in the assembly process and when the quilt is completed, floss ties are placed in each square. The quilt is completed when the congregation prays for the recipient and has tied each knot with a prayer said for that person’s special needs. The quilts are a statement of our faith, a testimony to our strong belief in God and in the ultimate power of prayer.
How can I get involved? We can always use many hands to volunteer. God is blessing so many people through this ministry. If you think God is calling you to be part of this ministry, we would love to have you. You do not need to be experienced in quilting to be a part of this ministry. If sewing is not your thing, you can help in other ways. The most important way to help, however, is to get involved in praying for the people in need. Leader: Elaine Estefan 251-990-0588. |
