JUNIOR WARDEN REPORT

2016 was a productive year for St. James on a number of fronts. Not only were the efforts of our search committee richly rewarded with having De Freeman join our family as our new rector, we were also able to complete a number of projects around the church.
The years and weather had taken their toll on the parking lot and had all but erased the striping. American Asphalt was the successful bidder to reseal and paint the parking lot and they did an excellent job. While we still have our original asphalt, because we have excellent run-off of water and debris, with proper maintenance we should not have to worry about repaving for another 5-10 years.
Somewhere between running her very successful architecture firm, managing the Windmill Market, seamlessly handling all of the responsibilities as Senior Warden during a very busy year, and who knows what else, Gina also managed to oversee the replacement/repair of the damaged or rotten windows and trim throughout the campus. She also worked with Father Nature Landscape to rework the flowerbeds at the front of the church.
After 20 years we finally had to invest in a significant upgrade for our security system. Hunter Securities replaced the control panel, pull stations, smoke/heat detectors, as well as installed a kitchen hood module to ensure we are up to code.
Lastly, you may have noticed that the church has a fresh coat of paint! CertaPro was the successful bidder to paint the church and helped us work with Sherwin-Williams to secure a 10 year warranty on the paint. They did an excellent job with the preparation and applied two coats of premium paint so again, with proper maintenance we should not have to worry about painting for quite some time.
Respectfully Submitted,
John L. Glover, III Junior Warden
