WELCOME!

Welcome to St. James Episcopal Church! I think you’ll find that we are a unique and diverse church of young families and single people, retirees, young children and empty nesters. We’re black, we’re white, we’re brown and yellow, we’re rich and we’re poor, we’re old and we’re young, and we’re everything in between. We’re also people who are filled with joy and people who are grieving, people who are in great health and people in recovery. We are a people of nearly all walks of life, yet we are the body of Christ and we’re here together; learning to live our faith and life together in this community. If you’ve been here long, you’ll know that worship is the center of who we are and what we do, and it’s through our worship together that we are connected to God.
If you’re relatively new we’re glad you’re here with us, and look forward to our common lives together. As we continue to move forward in time and as we continue to break bread together, I hope we continue to share fellowship with one another, and through the sacraments and our community we are strengthened to do the things Christ has called us to do: reaching out to the sick, the poor and the outcast, welcoming the strangers among us, spreading the good news to children, to those we meet and especially to one another. We are a welcoming bunch and on behalf of the vestry and the staff, I give thanks for you.
Fr. De Freeman, Rector
