Sung Compline and Taizé

A different style of worship from our regular Sunday morning...

On the third Sunday of each month at 7 pm, St. James offers either Taizé in the Chapel or Sung Compline in the Church. Each of the services lasts approximately 30 minutes, is casual, and open to everyone. Bring a friend!

Compline

Compline is an Order for Night Prayer and is descended from the night prayers said at bedtime. It is a service of quietness and reflection before bedtime at the end of the day. Our Men's Compline group signs, chants and reads scripture during this short, 30 minute service. All are welcome to come and pray with us through song and word. Children should feel free to wear their pajamas and lie down in the pews.

Taizé

Taizé is the style of Christian worship practiced by the ecumenical Taizé community in France, characterized by the repetitive singing of simple harmonized tunes, often in various languages, interspersed with readings, prayer and periods of silence.
