Weekly Readings

the revised common lectionary

The Episcopal Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary to select the readings for all services. Published in 1992 and officially adopted in 2006, the Revised Common Lectionary is a three-year cycle of Sunday Eucharistic readings in which Matthew, Mark, Luke (and some material from John) are read in successive years. The Lectionary (1969, revised 1981) was developed by the Roman Catholic Church after Vatican II provided for a three-year cycle of Sunday readings. This Roman Catholic lectionary provided the basis for the lectionary in the 1979 edition of The Book of Common Prayer, as well as for lectionaries developed by many other denominations.

If you are a lector and are assigned to read on Sunday, you will receive the readings by email through Ministry Scheduler, or you will find it under the resources section of the Ministry Scheduler Pro website or App. If you have any questions or concerns about the reading or your duties on Sunday, you may contact the parish office during regular business hours (Monday -Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
